|Three board members to be sworn into office in April|
|Monday, February 6, 2017|
Filing for election to the Pattonville Board of Education ended Jan. 17 with three candidates filing for three available seats. Because the same number of candidates filed as there were open seats, no election will be necessary in April, as per state law. Incumbents Andrea Glenn and Brian Gray filed for seats on the board and will be returning to the board, along with Mindy Ridings. Each seat carries a three-year term. Ron Kuschel, a former long-time board member who had been appointed to fill a vacated position, did not seek election. The three board candidates will be sworn into office during the April 11 board meeting.
Glenn will begin her fourth year on the board. She is the human resources leader with Pfizer Inc., the parent of two Pattonville graduates and a district resident of 16 years. She holds a bachelor's degree in human resources management from the University of Kansas and a master's degree in human resources management from Webster University. Glenn said, "I am committed to maintaining Pattonville School District's legacy of excellence and distinctiveness by hiring and retaining outstanding support staff and educators with fair and adequate compensation; and through high-quality programs and opportunities for our children, while maintaining a reasonable tax levy. My desire is to continue to provide a unique, innovative and practical perspective as a member of the Pattonville Board of Education."
Gray will begin his second year on the board in April. He is self-employed as a chiropractic physician, the parent of two Rose Acres Elementary School students and a district resident of 16 years. He holds a bachelor's degree and doctorate of chiropractic degree from Logan University. Gray said, "As a parent to two small children, I am invested in the community and the Pattonville School District. It is my duty as a citizen to be aware of our finances and challenges. As a top-ranked school district, we must strive for perfection. I wish to continue to guide the district as a school board member."
Ridings will enter her first year on the board in April. She is a teacher in the City of St. Charles School District, a parent of two students at Parkwood Elementary School and one student at Pattonville Heights Middle School and a district resident for 15 years. She holds a bachelor's degree from Drury University. Ridings said, "I am proud to be a resident of the Pattonville School District and am passionate about education. I am committed to supporting opportunities and programs that best serve all of our students and the continued success of our district. I look forward to serving Pattonville students and teachers."
