|Thursday, February 16, 2017|
Two schools recently held career fairs to give students a look at different professions and how to pursue a career in those fields.
Remington's SIGMA middle school gifted program hosted a career fair on Feb. 8 for sixth through eighth-graders. On hand were a variety of professionals, including an architect, an artist, a biosecurity expert, Boeing engineer, culinary artist, detective, hand-held game designer, lawyer, musician, photographer/graphic designer, published author, and teacher.
Pattonville High School hosted a career and technical fair featuring representatives from community colleges, technical colleges, skilled apprenticeships, police and fire academies and the military. Employers such as Ameren and the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) were also on hand to discuss their specific skilled-training programs. The goal of the event was to showcase career and training routes for students who may not be interested in attending a four-year university.
