Missouri Geography Bee
Two Pattonville students qualified to compete in the 2017 Missouri National Geographic State Bee. Benjamin Holland, a sixth-grader at Pattonville Heights Middle School, and Tajh Martin, an eighth-grader at Holman Middle School competed at the state contest. Only about 100 students in Missouri scored high enough to earn a spot at the state contest.

National Drive, Chip and Putt
Pattonville freshman Momo Kikuchi placed eighth in the nation in the Female 14 to 15 division of the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals. She also won the putting part of the competition for her age division. Kikuchi was one of 80 top performers in the nation to qualify for the event. The competition, which aired live on the Golf Channel, is a joint initiative of the Masters Tournament, United States Golf Association and The PGA of America. The competition is a free nationwide junior golf development competition aimed at growing the game by focusing on the three fundamental skills employed in golf.


Scholar Athlete
Pattonville senior Micah Thompkins was selected as a 2017 St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete. Scholar athletes are chosen based on their academic, athletic and leadership abilities and are selected by a vote of the head coaches at Pattonville. Thompkins will be featured in the Post-Dispatch and recognized during a St. Louis Cardinals game.

State DECA competition
Seven Pattonville High School students qualified for the state DECA competition after placing at the district competition. At districts, Emma Hohenstein placed first in leadership delegate and second in hotel and lodging management marketing. The following students earned first-place awards: Nicholas Rauscher in automotive services marketing; Ross Reynolds in business services marketing; and Sophie Vik in apparel and accessories marketing. Taityanna Beard placed second in human resources management marketing. Earning third-place awards were Madison Duello in business services marketing and Arielle Williams in apparel and accessories marketing. The students are coached by Holly Martinez and Doug McGhee.


Jazz in the Meadows contest
Three groups from Pattonville High School earned a 1 rating - the highest available - after performing at the Jazz in the Meadows festival. The following students also received individual awards for Outstanding Musicianship: Thomas McFarland and Sam Shull, who were also part of the jazz combo, band and ensemble that earned 1 ratings; Ben Moser, who was also part of the jazz combo and ensemble; and Christian Baugher and Evan Clark, who were part of the jazz band. Makyla Boyd, Layla Dukes, Sarah Hasekamp, Abigail Twyman, Trevor Vigus, Savanna Wooten and Kayla White were part of the jazz combo and ensemble groups that earned a 1 rating. The following students were part of the jazz band that earned a 1 rating: Sarah Baker, Jonah Dalton, Joe Davis, Marissa Dickman, Alex Duello, Julia Ensor, Michael Fisbeck, Lacey Harder, Laura Harder, Caleb Hughes, James Lyerla, Kaitlyn McKinley, Yasaman Mostafavi, Alex Newett, Michael Perrin, Charlee Sharpe, Abby Surlet and Elleni Yeshiwas. Students who were part of the jazz ensemble that earned a 1 rating were: Leslie Azwell, Kendrick Bearpaw, Olivia DeGalvez, Louis Johnson, Carter Kennedy, Joe Noble, Jordan Stevens, Emma Stubblefield and Amber Whitfield. The band is directed by Denny McFarland, with the assistance of Sara Deutschmann and Anna White.


NCA cheerleading championship
Pattonville's varsity cheerleading team placed first in the advanced division of the NCA Midwest Open Championships. The team was named Grand Champions in the high school division and earned first place for best stunts. Members of the team are: Madison Ambrosecchia, Madison Clark, Kori Gibbons, Quincie Howard, Jordan Ihler, Kesley Kobielusz, Megan Lashley, Taylor Mayers, Victoria Miniex, Jordyn Nagelvoort, Alizabeth Parsons, Hannah Rodgers, Shaylyn Scheer, Sofia Serra, Kennedy Stroker, Madison Utley and Kathryn Wentz. Kalli Hunt is their coach.

Boys basketball district champions
Pattonville's boys basketball team was named Class 5 District 3 Champions. This year marked the first appearance for the boys team at sectionals in 32 years and the first Class 5 District Championship since 1976. Several team members also earned recognition. Destan Williams was selected as MBCA Class 5 All-State, All-District First Team and All-Conference Second Team. Richard Henderson was selected as All-District and All-Conference First Team. Derrick Boyce and Trenard Byndom were selected All-Conference Honorable Mention. Mike Davis was selected for the All-Conference Sportsmanship Award. Other members of the team are: Jimmy Boswell, Kyron Broyles, Julius Erby, Marquis Hayes, Kyle Holloway, Nick Johnson, Lavar Miller, Greg Robinson, Mario Rowland and Tyler Sales. Kelly Thames coached the team with the assistance of Antonio Bryant, Travis Harris, Jason Ohlsen and Dominic Varner.


Girls basketball conference honors
On the varsity girls basketball team, Tyra Brown was named All-Conference First Team and Kendall Battle, Brooke Jenkins and Jalin Spears were named All-Conference Honorable Mention. Helen Nelson was selected for the All-Conference Sportsmanship Award. Doug McGhee coached the team with assistant coach Kaitlin Childs.


Wrestling conference honors
On the the Pattonville wrestling team, Alonso Hernandez qualified for state in the 132 pound weight and was named All-Conference First Team. Omar Daoud was also named All-Conference First Team. Imran Alvi and Dakari Streeter were named All-Conference Second Team. Peter Collier and Dan Model were selected for the All-Conference Sportsmanship Award. Brent Mueller coached the team with assistant coaches Jeff Grass, Mike Moeller and Michael Oostendorp
