Pattonville honored several tutors who reached milestones of volunteer service in working with its elementary students, including one who marked 25 years of volunteering. The district is celebrating the completion of its 26th year in the OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring program, which trains volunteer senior adults to work one-on-one with elementary-aged children on language, reading and writing skills.

More than 75 tutors committed to spending time each week with a student during the 2016-2017 school year. During a recognition luncheon, Pattonville honored tutors who reached five-, 10-, 15- and 25-year milestones of service. Bonnie Rudolph was recognized for 25 years of service as an OASIS tutor in Pattonville. Honored for 15 years of service were Jean Bruce, Ann Gulick, Eileen Quentin and Pat Stallings. Marking 10 years of service were Marie Himmel and Barbara Thrasher. Those who completed five years of tutoring were Delores Boyd, Linda Shead and Bonnie Zwibelman.

For those interested in becoming an OASIS tutor, a free, two-day training will take place in September at the Pattonville Learning Center. For more information, contact Kelly Gordon in the Pattonville school-community relations office at (314) 213-8025 or kgordon@psdr3.org.
