Vaccination Information
Students need to be current with immunizations. If not, they will not be permitted to start school according to state law.
Helpful Tips
- Regardless of grade, have a change of clothes, including underwear, in your student’s backpack. Accidents do happen whether it is a spilled drink at lunch or not making it to the bathroom. This saves a call to the parents and time!
- If medication is going to be given at school I will need:
- A signed parental permission form (paper or online in PowerSchool)
- A physician order if it is a prescription medication and/or a current action plan filled out by a physician
- Please keep pharmacy prescription labels on medications
- Controlled substances must be brought in by a guardian
- Any child with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher will be sent home. Please keep your child home until their temperature stays below 100 degrees for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.
- If a child has a severe cough, vomiting or diarrhea they will be sent home.
- Make sure PowerSchool is updated with emergency numbers. This is very important if your child would become sick or injured during the day. If you are called to pick up your child, it is expected that you will be at the school within the hour.

Specific Disease Exclusion for School
Covid
- Covid will be treated with the same precautions as flu, strep, etc. Students must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications before returning to school.
Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
- Purulent conjunctivitis, redness of eyes and/or eyelids with thick white or yellow discharge and eye pain. Exclude until appropriate treatment has been initiated or the discharge from the eyes has stopped unless a doctor has diagnosed a non-infectious conjunctivitis.
- Infected children without systemic illness should be allowed to remain in school once any indicated therapy is implemented.
- Nonpurulent conjunctivitis, redness of eyes with a clear, watery eye discharge but without fever, eye pain or eyelid redness are allowed to remain at school.
Fifth disease (Parvovirus)
- No exclusion if other rash-causing illnesses are ruled out by a healthcare provider. Persons with fifth disease are no longer infectious once the rash begins.
Hand, foot and mouth disease
- Until fever is gone and the student is well enough to participate in routine activities (sores or rash may still be present).
Head Lice
- Students will be excluded from school until first treatment is completed and no live lice are seen. Nits are NOT considered live lice. Children do not need to be sent home immediately if nits are detected; however they should not return until effective treatment is given.
Impetigo
- If confirmed by a healthcare provider, students will be excluded until 24 hours after treatment. Lesions on exposed skin should be covered with a watertight dressing.
Norovirus
- Students who are experiencing vomiting and/or diarrhea should be excluded until they have been free of diarrhea and vomiting for at least 24 hours.
Ringworm
- Students will be excluded until treatment has started or if the lesion cannot be covered; or if on the scalp, until 24 hours after treatment has been started.
- Any child with Ringworm should not participate in gym, swimming, and other close contact activities that are likely to expose others until 72 hours after treatment has begun or the lesion can be completely covered.
